Choose a file or paste data, pick the output format, then press Convert.
How to convert
- Upload a CSV, Excel (.xlsx), JSON or XML file, or switch to “Paste text” and paste your data.
- “Auto-detect” works for most files. If the workbook has several worksheets, pick the one to convert. If a CSV looks garbled, choose its encoding manually.
- Choose the output format: CSV, Excel, JSON or XML.
- Press Convert, check the preview, then download. Text formats can also be copied directly.
Conversion rules
- CSV to Excel: values are written as text by default, so leading zeros and long numbers are never changed. Select “Detect numbers” when you need to calculate with them.
- Excel to CSV or JSON: dates follow the cell format as
YYYY-MM-DDorYYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS, formulas output their saved result, and floating-point noise is removed from numbers. - JSON to table: the keys of all objects become the header row; nested objects and arrays are stored in the cell as JSON text.
- XML to table: the repeating record element is found automatically, and its child elements and attributes become columns. Nested elements are named
parent.child. - Table to XML: the output is
<rows><row>…</row></rows>. Headers that are not valid element names becomefield_N, and the original headers are listed in a comment at the top of the file.

Files you choose and text you enter are processed in your browser. They are not uploaded to our servers and we do not store them. Some tools download the code or data they need (such as OCR language data) from this site the first time you use them.

Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Reading and converting happen entirely in your browser, and your file never leaves your device, so customer lists and financial data stay private.
Will leading zeros (ZIP codes, phone numbers, IDs) survive CSV to Excel?
Yes. By default every CSV value is written to Excel as text, so 00123 or long ID numbers stay exactly as they are. Select "Detect numbers" to turn plain numbers (no leading zero, up to 15 digits) into real numeric cells you can sum.
Why do accented or Asian characters look garbled when I open a CSV in Excel?
Excel for Windows needs a UTF-8 byte order mark (BOM) to recognize UTF-8. CSV output here includes the BOM by default; uncheck it if another system rejects it. When reading, UTF-8 and UTF-16 are recognized automatically; on this page any other file is read as Windows-1252. If the text looks garbled, choose its encoding from the list (Shift_JIS, GBK, Big5, EUC-KR, Windows-1251, Windows-1254, Windows-874, Windows-1258 and more).
How are Excel dates, formulas and merged cells handled?
Dates are detected from the cell number format and written as text like 2024-05-01 or 2024-05-01 13:30:00 (the 1904 date system is supported). Formulas output the result Excel last saved, and a merged range keeps its value in the top-left cell only.
Can I convert old .xls files?
No. Legacy binary .xls files and password-protected workbooks are not supported. Open the file in Excel or LibreOffice, use Save As to save it as .xlsx without a password, then convert it.
Are there size limits?
Up to 50 MB per file and 3 million cells per table. Excel output is also limited to 1,048,576 rows and 16,384 columns. The preview shows the first 100 rows, but the downloaded file contains everything.
