FAQ

Is my content uploaded?

No. The Word file is created in your browser, and your content never leaves your device.

Which formatting is kept?

Headings use Word’s Heading 1–6 styles (shown in the Navigation pane). Ordered and bullet lists use Word numbering and bullets, including nested lists. Tables get borders, a bold header row that repeats across pages and the Markdown column alignment. Code blocks use a monospace font with shading, and links become clickable hyperlinks. Bold, italic, strikethrough and inline code are kept; task lists are shown as ☐ / ☑.

Are images included in the Word file?

Images are not embedded. Images from the web become links to the image address (with the alt text as the link text); other images keep only their alt text.

Which fonts and paper size are used?

Calibri for Latin text and Microsoft YaHei for Chinese (Yu Gothic for Japanese content, Malgun Gothic for Korean), on A4 paper. You can change the styles in Word afterwards.

What happens to HTML tags inside the Markdown?

They are not interpreted; they are written into the document as plain text. Links with unsafe schemes such as javascript: are removed and only the text is kept.

Are there limits?

Up to 1,000,000 characters; files can be up to 8 MB. Files are read as UTF-8 first; if that fails they are read as Windows-1252.
